Temple Beth Or Bat Mitzvah

Sometimes when families contact me, I am already booked for the date they have in mind. This wonderful family reached out to me later —this time, a bat mitzvah for their daughter Carolyn. This was my first visit to the reform Temple Beth Or in Everett, Washington—I am always excited to photograph in temples that are new to me (I’ve photographed mitzvahs in 11 temples or facilities in the greater Seattle area, and of course, there are many more). The temple is full of light with high ceilings & a warm wooden interior. It’s the kind of space that offers a serene peacefulness, a quiet, & also resonates with laughter & song & voices when filled with joyful participants.

The celebration at the Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa in Kirkland was a big, happy gathering with many folks joining in from her school, her community, her temple. One of those perfect days happened — the weather was amazing— & everyone enjoyed it in an outdoor tent under beautiful blue skies. Groups chatted, the children played outdoors on the grassy lawn or down by the dock, you could take a short stroll after eating along the waterfront. Everyone headed inside for candle lighting, line dancing, a horah & toasts. Later, the guests were treated to a glowing sunset over the water while the sun slipped slowly from the sky. Mazel tov to Carolyn & her family — it was absolutely my pleasure to be part of your day & evening.
