Tess celebrated her bat mitzvah with family & friends from around the world. After a lovely service at Temple Bnai Torah, the celebrations continued through the evening at the Maritime Event Center inside the Bell Harbor International Conference Center in downtown Seattle. Because life is full of surprises, there was a sudden, unplanned building evacuation (like a fire drill, but no fire, thankfully). Because we were all suddenly outside (during January evening, folks, it was crisply cold), what to do? Our adventurous photography team took advantage of the situation, of course. My wonderful photographer Corinne McNeely persuaded the fire personnel to let Tess hop up into a firetruck for a quick photo! Utterly amazing! While they were busy, I photographed one of my all-time favorite downtown Seattle dock images, still to this day.
